Great Lake Canadians 2024 Top Performers
The 2024 season has come to a close for the Great Lake Canadians. After a strong performance from all of our teams, we look to highlight some of the top performers from our 15U-18U divisions.
15U Division
2027 C Gino De Santis
Gino slashed .398/.539/.675 through 54 games this summer with 4 home runs and 25 XBHs. He finished the season with an organization-leading 1.214 OPS and walked 37 times while only striking out 23 times. Overall, it was a very impressive season for the young catcher who recently cracked the Baseball Canada Junior National Team roster.
2026/27 LHP Aaron Monterroza
Leading the organization in innings pitched was 2026 LHP Aaron Monterroza who finished the season with a 1.16 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP through 72.2 IP. He struck out 97 batters while only walking 23, and opponents had just a 0.192 BAA all season.
2026/27 RHP/OF Jack Potts
Another standout from our 15U team is 6-foot-6 / 175-pound RHP Jack Potts, who finished the 2024 campaign with a 1.36 ERA, and a 15U team-best 0.92 WHIP through 41.2 innings of work. He struck out 47 batters while only walking 14 and opponents hit just 0.153 off him. He was only charged with 8 earned runs all season.
2026/27 RHP Nathan Wall
Through 58.1 innings of work, Wall posted a 2.53 ERA with a WHIP of 1.26. He struck out 63 batters and walked 31, while opponents batted just 0.191 against the 6-foot-5, 210-pound RHP. In September, we also saw him touch 91.3mph at the Canadian Future Showcase. There is certainly more to come with the projectable right-hander.
2027 OF/INF Galen Hudel
Hudel finished the 2024 season with a 1.107 OPS after slashing .402/.469/.638. He accumulated 21 XBHs and 81 total bases while stealing 17 bases through 47 games. He led his team in hits with a total of 51 base knocks which was also good for the second most hits within the entire organization. Impressive year from Hudel who will be a strong follow heading into next year.
16U Division
2026/27 INF/OF Jack Ward
Ward helped lead his team to a 16U CPBL championship by slashing .360/.513/.570 to finish the 2024 campaign. He played 48 games and was tied for the team lead in walks with 34, he only struck out 13 times through the course of the season. He hit 14 XBHs (2 home runs) and stole 18 bases (led the team) while also being a standout on the defensive side of the ball. A strong season for Ward who capped it off by hitting a double off the wall against Michigan on our fall trip.
2025/26 OF Roen Douglas
Another top performer this season was outfielder Roen Douglas who slashes .368/.500/.592 which was good for a 1.092 OPS. He hit a team-leading 3 homers with a total of 17 XBHs while stealing 17 bases. He was also tied for the team lead in walks with 34 and only struck out 21 times through 46 games played.
2026/27 INF Jamie Moore
Moore finished the season with a 1.057 OPS, slashing .355/.509/.548 with a team-leading 20 XBHs. He drew 29 walks and stole 10 bases to round off the season. During the Canadian Future Showcase, we saw Jamie reach a peak exit velocity of 102mph, and after it was all said and done, he finished the season by committing to The University of Evansville. A strong year for the 2026 corner infielder.
2025/26 RHP Jackson Hansen
Hansen worked 53.1 IP through the course of the season and struck out 51 batters while only walking 15. He finished the season with a 2.11 ERA, and a 1.07 WHIP, while batters’ hit just 0.207 off him all summer. The uber-efficient RHP had 27 innings where he needed just 13 pitches or less to finish that inning.
2025/26 OF Ryerson Gignac
Gignac slashed .316/.515/.526 this summer, adding up to a 1.041 OPS. He walked 32 times and struck out 25 times, finishing the year with a BB/SO ratio of 1.28. The switch-hitting outfielder hit 12 XBHs this year, 4 of them being triples and 2 of them being homers.
17U Division
2025 INF Tyson Moran
North Dakota State University commit Tyson Moran was one of the organization’s top performers this past summer. He slashed .374/.429/.604, led the organization with 84 total bases, and was tied for the organization’s lead in XBHs with 25. He hit 18 doubles, 7 triples and walked 13 times this season while only striking out 12 times. To cap off an already impressive season, Moran won the Canadian Future Showcase MVP after a very strong performance in Toronto.
2025 LHP Mark Rogers
Mark Rogers finished the season with a 2.03 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP through 48.2 innings pitched this summer. He struck out 53 batters while only walking 6 through the course of the season and opponents hit just 0.225 off him.
2025 INF/OF Josh French
Another standout from the 17U team was Josh French, who led the team in stolen bases at 18, and in OBP at .476. He finished the season batting .361 with an OPS of .942 and accumulated 62 total bases. Overall, it was an impressive year for the Frontier Community College commit.
2025 OF Ryan Stephian
Stephian slashed 0.317/0.457/0.448 for an OPS at .905. He led the team in walks with 35 (which was also second in the entire organization) and was second on the 17U team in stolen bases with 15. To cap off an already impressive year, Stephian committed to the University of British Columbia to further his education and baseball career.
18U Division
2024 INF Will Moore
Leading the entire organization in stolen bases was Indiana Hoosiers commit Will Moore, who stole a total of 30 bases this past summer. He walked 30 times while only striking out 25 times and finished the season with an OBP of 0.439. After a strong 2024 season, we wish Will the best of luck at the NCAA Division 1 level.
2024 OF Carter Aarts
One of the top offensive seasons from our 18U team came from Niagara University commit Carter Aarts, who slashed 0.323/0.435/0.562 for an OPS of .996. He led the team in XBHs with 19 including 3 homers, 10 doubles, and 6 triples.
2024 RHP Tate Carey
Through 39.2 innings pitched Carey struck out 46 batters while only walking 8. He finished the season with a 1.96 ERA and a WHIP of 0.97. Carey topped 94mph multiple times throughout the season where opponents hit just 0.205 off his arsenal. We had the opportunity to see Tate on the mound for Michigan when they played against us during the final game of our fall trip.
2024 RHP Evan Schweizer
Schweizer struck out 41 batters through 30.2 innings pitched while only walking 13. The Purdue commit finished the season with an ERA of 1.62 and a WHIP of 1.13. Throughout the summer season, opponents hit just 0.179 off his pitch mix, Perdue has a quality RHP.
