Riley Silva has been with GLC since 2016, joining the organization for his 14u year, and now, after spending half a decade with the club, he heads into his final year before heading off to Barton Community College for the fall of 2021.

The left-handed-hitting outfielder has had a memorable tenure with GLC and has benefited significantly from playing for this organization. "GLC has really impacted my career by developing me physically and mentally both on and off the field to make me a better ballplayer," said Silva.

During his time with the club, he's won the 14u and 15u Hitter of the Year Award, as well as the 17u Gold Glove. Along with those organizational accomplishments, Silva also participated in Tournament 12 on two occasions and took part in the annual CPBL All-Star Showcase weekend this past season.

In August, Silva officially announced his commitment to Barton CC, a school he was initially attracted to after speaking to the club's head coach, Brent Biggs.

"Barton CC is a good fit for me because after talking with Coach [Brent] Biggs, I realized they want what's best for their players, and they want them to succeed at the next level. Also, Barton has a turf infield, and I feel that I play better in that environment," said Silva. "I look forward to the whole atmosphere in college where everyone is there for the same reason, to get better and play hard, which hopefully gets you to the next level."

"My main goal, just like every other baseball player, is to make it to the big leagues someday and hopefully stay there for a while. My expectations moving forward are to go to Barton and better myself while I'm there and then move onto a four-year school.”

18U Coach Kirk Barclay spoke highly of his club's outfielder, stating, "Riley Silva is one of the fastest kids we've had come through the program. It is going to be very interesting to see where his career takes him. Riley is the type of athlete that you pay to watch. He is going to do some things in the Jayhawk League that will open some eyes."

Silva looks to do just that when he arrives on campus in Great Bend, Kansas as a freshman for the fall of 2021.

Silva's advice for the next generation of GLC players:

"The advice that I would give to the younger GLC players is to figure out what kind of game they want to play. Such as if you are a faster player, learn how to bunt and learn how to bunt in certain situations and hit gap to gap for doubles and hopefully triples. A big piece of advice I would give, though, is don't get down on yourself when you are struggling because baseball is a mentally tough game, and it's very easy to get down on yourself saying that you're bad at the game and stuff like that, but that's what baseball does to everyone, and everyone feels that way at one point or another," said Riley Silva, 2021 GLC Grad.
