Aaron Rutherford (London, Ontario) joined GLC for his 14u season and now, half a decade later, looks to finish off his tenure with a solid senior campaign.

The right-hander, who committed to Monroe Community College in November, looks back fondly at his time with GLC. He noted, "GLC has helped me develop as a player with good coaching and workout plans as well as helping me figure out that transitioning to a full-time pitcher would be the best option for me."

Since joining the organization as a member of GLC's inaugural 14u club, Rutherford has won three CPBL trophies, most recently in 2019, during his 16u season.

"My most memorable highlight would have to be being part of the team that won the 16U CPBL finals in 2019, as well as meeting some of my best friends. The U.S. tournaments were highlights, as well," said Rutherford.

Looking ahead to college, the right-hander's goals are to grow as a pitcher and person at Monroe before heading off to a four-year school when he graduates.

Rutherford noted, "I am looking forward to improving as a pitcher and preparing for my life after baseball....my goals and expectations for myself in the future are for me to do well both on and off the field at college."

GLC Pitching Coordinator Jon Fitzsimmons expects him to maximize his time in college as well. "He earned every ounce of his opportunity to play at college and I know he'll carry that work ethic with him once he leaves our program."

"Aaron has taken every opportunity over his GLC career to put in extra time working to improve his delivery and repertoire on the mound. It's been enjoyable watching him grow and learn from the time he started with GLC until now," said Fitzsimmons.

Rutherford's advice for the next generation of GLC players centres around work ethic.

"My advice for up-and-coming GLC players is to give your best effort in the weight room because that is where you will improve the most. I would also suggest planning out your weeks in advance to help with time management, between school, baseball and part-time jobs," said Aaron Rutherford, 2021 GLC Grad.
