We are now a month into the college baseball season, and there were a lot of noteworthy highlights from GLC’s alumni this past week. Read below as we dive into the top performances during week four.

Highlights

Max Wright - Indiana State University

Wright (Toronto, Ontario) is yet to go hitless in a game this season. The left-handed-hitting catcher picked up five more hits this past week, driving in three runs and ended the week with a .360 batting average. He is having a tremendous senior season; meanwhile, the Sycamores are 9-5.

Nick Thibodeau - Howard CC

Thibodeau, a freshman catcher, put together an impressive week. He picked up five hits in nine at-bats, scoring four times. He’s hitting .643, having capitalized on every opportunity he’s been given. Howard CC is 14-6 on the year.

Jake Wilson - Liberty University

The Flames are on a roll, sweeping North Alabama on the weekend to extend their winning streak to eight games. Wilson has been a key part of their success at the top of the lineup, and this past week, he picked up four more hits.

Owen Diodati - University of Alabama

After hitting his second grand slam of the season last Sunday, Diodati followed up with another one on Monday, this time in walk-off fashion. Down by a run in the ninth, Diodati unloaded on a pitch, putting Twitter into a frenzy. The video says it all.

Corben Peters - Grambling University

Peters threw three innings against Florida A&M on Sunday, striking out a batter and only allowing one run. This comes after a clean two-out appearance against Southern University earlier in the week.

Alex Orenczuk - LSU Alexandria

Grand Slam’s seem to be a theme. Orenczuk (London, Ontario) picked up his second slam of the year, helping LSUA split Saturday’s doubleheader. The junior outfielder has been a force in the middle of the Generals’ lineup thus far in the 2021 season.

Jameson Hart - William & Penn University

Hart picked up five hits this past week. The Sarnia, Ont. native’s big game was Tuesday, where he scored three times, got two hits, as William & Penn scored 21 runs. He’s now hitting .318 and slugging .455 on the season.

Nicholas George - William & Penn University

George was a key factor in the other game played on Tuesday for William & Penn. His hit and two RBI’s proved to be vital as they went on to win 11-9. George has made a number of appearances in his first taste of college baseball this season.

Jordan Marks - USC Upstate

There aren't many pitchers who are off to a better start than Marks. After winning Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week honours to open the season, Marks doubled down, winning the award once again after seven scoreless innings on Friday. The junior right-hander struck out ten batters during the start.

Griffin Hassall - Kansas State University

Hassall (Newmarket, Ontario) made a pair of appearances this past week, throwing against South Dakota State and Rice. He went three innings collectively, striking out three without allowing an earned run.

Eric Cerantola - Mississippi State University

Cerantola was excellent in his Saturday start against Eastern Michigan. The 6-foot-5 right-handed pitcher went five innings allowing just a hit and a run while striking out five batters. Mississippi State is off to an excellent start, and they are set to face LSU this upcoming weekend.

Brian Zapp - Miami Ohio University

Zapp touched them all on Sunday! The left-handed-hitting infielder picked up his first collegiate home run at Memphis. The Redhawks are set to play the University of Toledo this upcoming weekend as they look to get above .500.

Ethan Baptie - Dodge City CC

Baptie is on the board! The right-handed-hitting outfielder picked up his first home run of the season on Sunday. He's hitting .269 on the year; meanwhile, the Conquistadors are 9-3.
