With the college season having started on February 19th for a number of teams south of the border, we take a look at how GLC's alumni performed during their first taste of baseball this year.

Ari Sechopoulos - College of Charleston

Sechopoulos is off to a hot start in his senior campaign. Over the weekend, the left-handed hitting first baseman went 4/10, with a pair of doubles and stolen bases helping Charleston go 2-1 against North Carolina A&T.

Max Wright - Indiana State University

Wright, a left-handed hitting catcher, started his senior season off with four hits during Indiana State’s three-game set against Pittsburgh. He went deep in the opening game and added a double in game 2.

Garner Spoljaric - Stetson University

Spoljaric and the Stetson Hatters are on a roll, going 4-0 to start their season. Spoljaric’s only appearance was in Sunday’s game, throwing two innings and striking out five, closing out a 3-1 victory.

Jordan Marks - USC Upstate

Bright’s Grove native Jordan Marks was outstanding in his Friday night start against the University of Toledo. He went six innings, only allowing one hit and striking out nine batters, touching 98 in his outing. Marks was named the Big South Conference's Starting Pitcher of the Week.

Owen Diodati - University of Alabama

Diodati picked up where he left off last season, helping the Crimson Tide go 3-0 during the weekend series against McNeese. He went deep on Saturday as his two-run shot tied the game in the eighth inning before they walked it off in the ninth. Meanwhile, on Sunday, Diodati’s grand slam gave Alabama a commanding lead. The Niagara Falls native started each game in right field.

Brian Zapp - Miami Ohio University

Zapp appeared in three games during the weekend series against Jacksonville, picking up four hits. He hit two triples, walked a pair of times, and was hit by two pitches, getting on base eight times total. Miami Ohio is off to a 3-0 start.

Tyler Hinrikus - Ball State University

6-foot-2, 190-pound third baseman/outfielder Tyler Hinrikus appeared in all three games against Arizona, picking up his first college hit, a two-run single on Monday.

Mat Szabo - Angelo State University

Sarnia native, Mat Szabo, made his season debut against UT Tyler in the team's second game of the year. He went 2.1 innings, striking out five batters.

Alex Orenczuk - LSU Alexandria

Orenczuk has been red hot over the last week for LSU Alexandria. He’s hit above .500, and gone deep twice since last Wednesday. He’s been a key cog in the middle of the Generals lineup.

Jameson Hart - William & Penn University

Hart, a Sarnia native, has hit .462 over the last three games for William & Penn University. He’s driven in three runs and hit a pair of doubles, helping the club go 2-1 over the weekend.
