Jack Hourahine, who joined GLC at the 17u level, enters his final season with the organization before heading off to Western Nebraska Community College.

The right-handed hitting infielder committed to the school in February, a decision he came to quickly given his conversations with the coaching staff.

"I was lucky enough to talk to many schools since we're currently in lockdown. But after the first phone call I had with Coach (Mike) Jones I knew that this was a school I wanted to attend, knowing that this team comes to win every game they play really caught my eye," said Hourahine.

"The winning attitude, competitiveness, getting opportunities to play and progress with great players, and being able to play in a great conference is exactly what I was looking for."

These are similar characteristics that Hourahine has valued in his time with GLC, recognizing the shared mentality the players possess.

"The energy while training with my team is always positive and highly competitive, everyone there has the same mindset to become better each and every time they step on the field."

"GLC has impacted my career heavily, without this program I wouldn't be the ball player I am today. The GLC coaching staff has shaped me into a much better player physically and mentally. Not only is the coaching staff amazing with helping players find their full potential, but being able to compete/practice with these great players pushes you even further."

Since joining the program, Houarhine has developed many memories and bonds, particularly citing the fall trip as a memorable experience. "The moments I will never forget while playing on this team are finding new friends that I can call my brothers, being able to play multiple D1 schools, and seeing the progress I've made since the first fall with this team," he said.

As his amateur career heads towards a conclusion, Hourahine looks forward to experiencing the next level of baseball. "I can't wait to meet my teammates and other athletes, play great baseball with new friends, and experience American school sports events."

His advice to the next crop of GLC players; "My advice to up-and-coming GLC players would be work hard in the classroom as well as the weight room everyday, and block out any negative energy. Hard work does pay off eventually, you just have to trust the process," said Jack Hourahine, 2021 GLC Grad.
