And...we're off....with the Division I season kicking off this past weekend, we have gathered updates on all of our former players playing college baseball south of the border. Some very exciting starts for our guys and we look forward to following successful seasons for all GLC alumni at every level of college baseball throughout the course of the 2020 season.

Owen Diodati - FR - University of Alabama

You couldn't ask for a better way to start your college career. Diodati (Niagara Falls, ON) the Freshman, led his Crimson Tide to an impressive three game sweep in their opening weekend. He hit two home runs in his first collegiate game on Friday night, only to add another on Sunday in the finale, where he was a double short of the cycle. On the weekend, Owen finished six for nine with three home runs, eight RBIs and five walks, including one intentionally on Sunday. On Monday he was named SEC Freshman of the Week.

Noah Myers - JR - University of South Carolina

Myers (Wyoming, ON), another former GLC competing in the SEC this season, also saw time in all three of the Gamecocks games on opening weekend down in Columbus. He scored two runs over the three game set and stole a base on Sunday in his first start in CF on the year.

Eric Cerantola - So - Mississippi State University

Cerantola (Oakville, ON) came out firing on Sunday in his first start of the 2020 season for Mississippi St. In four scoreless innings of work, he struck out eight while only surrendering two hits. Sitting 93-96 MPH Cerantola dominated opposing hitters and looks primed to secure a weekend spot for the highly ranked Bulldogs.

Brian Zapp - FR - Miami (OH) University

The reigning GLC MVP saw action in all three of his Red Hawks games on opening weekend as they took on powerhouse Texas A&M down in College Station. Zapp, the Freshman from Waterloo, scored a run in his first collegiate start on Saturday in Miami's loss.

Corben Peters - JR - Grambling State University

Peters (Ottawa, ON) made his first appearance of the season in relief on Sunday as his Grambling Tigers swept their opening weekend set. In an inning and two thirds, Peters surrendered 2 hits while not allowing an earned run.

Garner Spoljaric - JR - Stetson University

Announced as the closer heading into the season for the Hatters, Spoljaric (Lisle, ON) was thrown into action on opening day and didn't disappoint. Although not a save, he did pick up the win for Stetson when they rallied late. Gar went an inning and a third, while striking out three, to shut the door on their first win of the season.

Daniel Warkentin - JR - Eastern Michigan University

Danny Wark (Leamington, ON) picked up his first RBI and scored his first run of the year for the Eagles in three starts at third base over the weekend.

Kyle Maves - SO - Quinnipiac University

After a successful Freshman campaign, Maves (Burlington, ON) was back in the lead off spot on opening weekend for Quinnipiac. The second baseman wasted no time getting involved with a double and walk in the Bobcats opening night loss.

Cal Theal - SO - Niagara University

After an exciting opening night win over #13 Florida State, Theal (Niagara, ON) made his first appearance of the year in relief against the Seminoles on Saturday. He gave up a hit in two thirds of an inning for the Purple Eagles.

Spencer Marcus - SO - Niagara University

Marcus (Chatham, ON) made an impact early in his career as a Purple Eagle when he would drive in a go ahead run on Friday night, late in the game, to help lead Niagara past the mighty Seminoles. Marcus started all three of the games this weekend in right field.

Isaac Deveaux - SO - University of Utah

Another former GLC that saw plenty of action on opening weekend, Deveaux (Montreal, QC) started in four games on the weekend for the Utes and notched three hits, three RBIs while scoring four runs. The toolsy right fielder added three walks as well.

Noah Skirrow - SO - Liberty University

Skirrow (Hamilton, ON) started the 2020 campaign off similar to how he ended the 2019 season...dominating. In six innings of work on Saturday, Skirrow held the Clemson Tigers to one run while striking out three.

Jordan Marks - JR - USC Upstate

GLC Original, Marks (Brights Grove, ON), now in his Junior season, continues to be a force for the Spartans. Marks took the ball as the Friday night starter again this year for USC Upstate and was surgical. Up to 95MPH, Marks scattered four hits over seven and a third shutout innings en route to striking out nine and his first win of the season.

Jake Wilson - SR - Bowling Green University

Known as one of the top defensive outfielders in all of college baseball, Wilson, a senior from Lisle, got the nod in CF all three games of the Falcons opening weekend series against Lipscomb. On opening night, Jake collected his first hit, run and RBI while also walking once as well.

Ari Sechopoulos - SR - College of Charleston

Big Ari (Windsor, ON) kicked his senior season off in style with a home run on opening night to help lead his Cougars to their first win of the season. Sechopoulos would also add multi hit games on Saturday and Sunday while collecting five RBIs as well. Off to a quick start, Ari is hitting .455 through week one.

Michael Mommersteeg - JR - Valparaiso University -

Mommersteeg, was perfect in his first appearance of 2020 on Friday for the Crusaders. The Senior from St. Thomas, ON failed to give up a hit or run while facing the minimum in his inning of work.

Jacob Douglas - JR - Ft. Hays University

With the Division II season already a couple weeks deep, Douglas made his third and fourth appearances this past weekend in pressure situations. He would come in and get the save on Saturday working a hit less inning and a third while striking out one. Bouncing back on Sunday, Douglas was called upon again to shut the door and did so in two thirds of an inning where he struck out two en route to his second save of the weekend and a series sweep for the Tigers.

Tyrus Barclay - SR - Emporia State University

Barclay (Wyoming, ON) another GLC Original, made his sixth start of the season this past weekend for Emporia State. Tyrus has collected three hits and and scored three runs so far during this young Hornet season.

Mat Szabo - SR - Young Harris University

Coming off a injury that forced Szabo (Sarnia, ON) to sit out the 2019 season, Mat has been dominant so far down at Young Harris. Last weekend, in his first start of the season, Szabo went five innings allowing no earned runs and striking out nine. This past Saturday he was even more impressive pitching into the seventh inning and striking out thirteen while not allowing a run and scattering three hits. Through twelve and a third innings, Szabo has yet to give up a single run.

Jackson Wahl - FR - Bethel University

Wahl a Freshman from Guelph, kicked things off this weekend by starting all three games for Bethel behind the plate. An impressive feat for a Freshman, at any position, let alone catcher. Offensively, he added a hit in each game.

Alex Orenczuk - JR - LSU Alexandria

Orenczuk (London, ON), another former GLC who has a couple weekends under his belt already in the 2020 season, got off to a hot start for LSU Alexandria and is hitting .333 through four games with three RBI and a home run.

Jameson Hart - JR - William Penn University

Sarnia native and GLC original, Jameson Hart has found a great fit with the Statesman and finds himself leading the team in several offensive categories through eleven games, including slugging percentage (.730), RBIS (16) and home runs (3). This past weekend, Hart collected seven hits in four games and drove in six in a series win for William Penn.

Cam Sanderson - FR - University of British Columbia

After an injury sidelined him for the entire 2019 season, Sanderson (Ilderton, ON) has stepped in to lead the Thunderbirds as their starting shortstop for 2020. Through seven games this spring, Sanderson has started in six and has yet to commit an error. Always the elite defender, Cam has pitched in offensively as well collecting four hits and three RBIs while also using his speed to steal three bases.

Brett Corbeth - SO - University of British Columbia

Corbeth (London, ON), continues to help out UBC on both sides of the ball early in the 2020 campaign. With three starts behind the plate, two at DH and a couple outings on the mound, Corbeth has become the ultimate two way player at the college level. Offensively, he leads the T-Birds with two home runs and on the mound has struck out three over there innings of work.

Eric Lindsay - SR - Friends University

Looking to finish off a successful college career, Lindsay (Cambridge, ON) has found a home at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. The right hander has one start on the season where he struck out two.

Brett Reid - JR - Okanagan College

Reid (Exeter, ON) and his Okanagan Coyotes are currently on their spring trip that leads them down through Nevada and Arizona playing different levels of collegiate programs in the states. Yesterday, OC knocked off Central Arizona the #6 ranked Junior College in the country. Reid saw action earlier in the week against Salt Lake CC going two and two thirds innings allowing only one run.

Carter Sanderson - SR - Alma College

Sanderson (Ilderton, ON) made all three starts on opening weekend for his Scots last week. He got his first hit of his senior season out of the way in game one and scored a run in an Alma win. Off this weekend, the Scots return to action on Sunday.

Ethan Baptie - FR - Dodge City CC

The reigning GLC 18U defensive player of the year, Baptie (Woodstock, ON) made four starts in CF for the Conqs this past weekend as they opened their season. Baptie had a solid weekend at the plate collecting four hits (2 doubles and 2 singles) while driving in a dozen.

Jacob Gajic - FR - Highland CC

Gajic (Hamilton, ON), the former GLC strike thrower, has quickly transitioned into the college game and has struck out eleven through his first nine innings of work. This past weekend, in his second start of the season, Gajic went six strong innings without giving up a run and scattering two hits. He would also strike out six en route to his first win of the young season.

Jacob English - SO - Roane St CC

Coming off an injury last season, English, now healthy has made three starts so far this year for Roane State. In eight and a third innings of work, he has struck out seven.
