Core Jackson, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound infielder from Wyoming, Ontario, is headed to Nebraska for 2021 after committing to join the Cornhuskers last April.

During his time with GLC thus far, he's been a part of three league championships, winning the last game of the season each year the playoffs have been hosted. He won a Gold Glove during his 16u season and was a CPBL All-Star Showcase participant in 2020.

Jackson joined the organization at 14u and credits the coaches for their influence on him along the way. He stated, "GLC has given me the opportunity to play baseball at an elite level. I have been coached by knowledgeable, competent, caring and supportive coaches. Each coach is unique in what they have contributed to my career, whether that was being a hitting coach, an infield coach, even coaches who kept me in check on the field, offering suggestions on the mental side of the game as well."

"GLC is an opportunity to play with like-minded teammates who desire to get better at the game. Playing tournaments in the states gave me exposure to tons of scouts and schools, ultimately landing me a scholarship with the University of Nebraska."

The opportunity to go to Nebraska was compelling for Jackson for a handful of reasons. The chance to play in the Power Five was specifically appealing.

Although he was unable to visit the campus due to COVID, the conversations with the Nebraska staff, GLC's Director of Baseball Operations, Chris Robinson, and Director of Player Development/18U Manager, Adam Stern, made the decision much easier for the left-handed-hitting infielder.

"Even though I wasn't able to physically visit the campus, the school sent me lots of videos, and we had lots of conversations over the phone. They really sold me on it."

"Adam Stern was also great to bounce things off of since it was his alma mater. Chris Robinson was always available for a phone call or text to answer questions and concerns. Always thankful for the wisdom of the GLC staff," said Jackson.

"What I look forward to most about college is the time I will get to spend getting better at baseball. The training, practices, and games will be what gets me motivated and hopefully not miss home too much. I really love baseball and knowing it will be part of my day every single day whether it's on the field or in the weight room is what gets me excited to head off to Nebraska."

With lockdowns throughout the province, Jackson has been able to train in and around his house. He is hitting in his cage in the backyard, taking ground balls, and working out in the garage, noting that he's added good weight to his frame and plans to add more weight throughout the off-season.

Coach Brock Kjeldgaard, when asked about Jackson, stated; "Core brings a great amount of skill to the ballpark. He has the ability to be a game-changing player at the collegiate level. He is headed to a program rich in history with everything needed to continue to develop into that player. I look forward to following his progression in the Big 10."

Jackson's advice for future GLC players:

"For those up and coming GLC players realize the years fly by. Don't take the opportunity to play for GLC for granted. It's an amazing organization that cares about each and every player. Go to the field each day ready to do something awesome. Take a look around and notice that you are playing with some of the best talent in Ontario. You are being coached by some of the best coaches in the business. Take the game seriously but enjoy it and laugh. You will make some pretty great friends through your journey and meet some pretty amazing people. You never know where this opportunity might take you someday!" said Core Jackson, 2021 GLC Grad.
