Caden Turnbull (Wyoming, ON), an outfielder who joined GLC at 13 years-old with the 14u squad, is headed to Ventura College for the fall of 2021.

A member of three CPBL Championship teams, Turnbull viewed Ventura College in Ventura, California, as a good fit for himself for numerous reasons. "When looking for schools I wanted to go somewhere warm so I could play baseball all year round and it also has the program I am looking to get into," said Turnbull.

Living the "juco lifestyle" is something the right-handed-hitting outfielder looks forward to, along with meeting his new teammates once he heads out west.

When asked about Turnbull, Coach Jeff Helps spoke highly of the right-handed-hitting outfielder, stating, "Caden is a sure defender with a great first step. He can play all three outfield positions and you know if it goes up it's an out."

"He's coming along with the bat and starting to get a better understanding of his speed on the basepaths."

Turnbull is thankful for his parents' support and their sacrifices in allowing him to play for GLC as well as the coaches in the organization.

"My mom and dad have had a big impact on my career by allowing me to play with Great Lakes and also taking me to the games when I couldn't drive. My coaches have also impacted my career by always pushing me to do better and not settle with something because they always knew I could do better."

Currently, during lockdowns, Turnbull has had to be creative in order to get his work in. He noted, "for a while I was able to go down to Centrefield Sports and workout in small groups, but now that Covid has gotten more serious it has limited my options. Now I have been hitting in a shop with a couple of my teammates and been working out in my basement as much as possible."

From here on out, Turnbull has his sights set on starting when he arrives on campus at Ventura College.

His advice for future GLC players:

"Advice I would give to upcoming Great Lake players would be to stand out and don't follow what everyone else is doing make yourself noticed and never settle with average," said Caden Turnbull, 2021 GLC Grad.
