We are through our first portion of college baseball and many of our Great Lake Canadian alumni are out in full effect. Here is the breakdown from the first few games of the 2023 season!

Brian Zapp - Miami University

Zapp, coming from Waterloo, Ontario, is off to a hot start with an average of .455 at the plate in 4 appearances so far this season. He also grabbed a pair of home runs against Georgia Tech this week. Zapp and Miami are set to face North Alabama this weekend. 

Blake Jacklin - Yavapai College

Jacklin has been dominant in his first few games with the Yavapai Roughriders. Hitting .378 with 7 extra-base hits, he also notched 10 RBI and 5 stolen bases during that time. Jacklin will continue to tack on to his repertoire as Yavapai takes on South Mountain this Saturday. 

Kyle Maves - Quinnipiac University

Maves, of Burlington, Ontario, led off for the Quinnipiac Bobcats on opening weekend. After getting shut down on opening day, Maves followed up with a pair of hits in game two, and another in game three. The Bobcats will take on Maryland Eastern Shore this coming weekend. 

Owen Diodati - Oregon University

Diodati picked up 3 hits in Oregon’s opening series against Xavier, with 5 putouts in right field. Oregon will take on UC Santa Barbara in a 4 game set this weekend.

Ben Roberts - University of North Carolina Upstate

Roberts, who is from Burlington, Ontario, made his first appearance of the season for USC Upstate. After getting into a bases-loaded jam, Roberts followed up with a massive strikeout to get out of a damage-free inning. Roberts and Upstate take on North Florida this week. 

Tyler Mosher - Davenport University

Mosher currently sits on a .294 average in his first 6 games, even knocking a solo home run against Central Missouri on Saturday. Mosher and the Panthers will hit the road to tackle Tiffin University and the University of Tampa this weekend.

Jacob Gajic - Northwest Missouri State University

Gajic, a sophomore hailing from Hamilton, has been steady so far with the Northwest Bearcats. Gajic has given up just a single earned run over 2.2 IP, grabbing one save and 5 Ks over that span.

Brett Corbeth - University of British Columbia

Corbeth, a two-way catcher, has slashed .394 at the plate including an opening-day home run. Off the mound, the Thunderbirds have grabbed three wins while Corbeth has been on the mound. UBC will play Bushnell Univerisity in a pair of doubleheaders this weekend. 

Ryan Lieng - Cleary University

Lieng grabbed a win for Cleary University in his second appearance this season. He has thrown 4.1 innings so far and has given up two earned runs over that time. Lieng and Cleary University will play IUPUC on March 4.

Ethan Baptie - University of Mary

Baptie, from Woodstock, Ontario, launched a homerun in his first appearance of the season. He went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI in his season opener starting in left field for the Marauders. They will take on Metropolitan State on February 24. 

Nick Thibodeau - University of West Alabama

Thibodeau, a sophomore from Burlington, is hitting .280 so far with UWA. He has a pair of home runs this season as he mainly starts behind the dish for the Tigers. They will play Auburn University at Montgomery in a 3-game set this weekend. 

Greg Ross - Emporia State University

Ross, of Sarnia, Ontario, starts his season with a 1-1 record for ESU. He has notched 19 strikeouts over his 5 appearances and is holding an ERA just north of 4.00 this season. ESU will take on Northeastern State this weekend. 

Nick George - William and Penn University

George has had a great start so far with William Penn University. He is currently looking at a .500 average with 2 BBs and 2 RBI in his two appearances thus far. They will take on Tabor this Saturday. 

Core Jackson - South Mountain Community College

Jackson, who is from Wyoming, Ontario, has tacked on a .302 average and 5 doubles in a dozen appearances so far for South Mountain CC. South Mountain will play host to Yavapai this weekend.
