Outfielder Braedan MacDonald (Courtright, Ontario), a member of GLC since 15u, committed to Kankakee CC at the end of March, an opportunity he’s glad came to fruition.

Kankakee was a good fit for MacDonald academically and athletically. From a baseball standpoint, they have had continued success on the field and are coming off of a 37-20 season. MacDonald stated, “Kankakee was a good fit for me because it had the courses I needed to succeed along with a great ball team.”

“I’m looking forward to always being on the baseball field, getting in reps and progressing as a baseball player.”

MacDonald has progressed plenty this offseason despite the circumstances, stating, “this current offseason has progressed from putting in the work at home, to running full practices with part of the team.”

“My goals/expectations for myself would be to improve as a ball player as much as I can before leaving for school.”

When asked about the right-handed-hitting outfielder, 17U Manager & Infield/Outfield/Hitting Instructor Brock Kjeldgaard stated, “Braedan has been a pleasure to coach in his years with GLC. He is a big strong physical kid with an outstanding work ethic. He has made great strides in a Great Lake uniform and I look forward to continuing to follow his progression moving forward.”

MacDonald noted that he’s a far different player than when he first donned GLCs uniform a number of years ago.

“GLC has impacted my career by taking me from where I was when I first joined and building me up to become a better and more competitive baseball player,” said MacDonald.

“Some of my highlights from playing GLC would be playing for a team that became like a second family to me, and playing competitive baseball with lots of energy for every game.”

MacDonald made sure to acknowledge his father, who’s been critical in helping him get to this point. “My dad has had the biggest impact on my career for always pushing me to be better. He has been driving me to my games since I started and coaching me where he could. Once I became older and more experienced, I have to thank the GLC program for taking me and my skill further as a baseball player."

MacDonald’s advice to future GLC players; “My advice for up-and-coming GLC players would be to always put in the work, if you do the work not only on the field but in the classroom, you will be able to achieve the goals you set for yourself as a baseball player,” said Braedan MacDonald, 2021 GLC Grad.
